gallery-ready...what does it mean...???
Having your work gallery ready for your final projects is essential.
Here are some tips...so you can hone your skills as a professional artist.
Many of these concerns will be addressed in your exhibition agreement form...take a moment to consider your needs.
As a gallery and museum preparator...I can help you with any special installation needs...JUST ASK!
A-TEAM (yes, please)
1. your painting is DRY
2. your wall mounted work is matted/framed/has D-rings/french cleat/linen tape tabs/something! (refer to images and videos below)
3. arrow on back showing "UP"direction is always helpful...never assume it's obvious.
4. multi-piece sculpture and/or wall work is CLEARLY marked with numbers as to arrangement of pieces and orientation (i.e.,a series of photos labeled on back 1,2,and 3 with accompanying drawing showing they are a vertical stack with 1 on top, 2 in middle, 3 on bottom...etc.)
5. If you must hang from ceiling...provide hanging material in correct footage. Please discuss ahead of time to be sure it is sufficient.
6. Don't forget to put your name somewhere on your work (each piece)...use blue tape if you need to.
7. Have a title.
8. Drop off ON TIME...we are on a tight schedule.
9. Have faith. We are professionals...and will make your work look the best it can in the context of a group show.
VS.
B-TEAM (just don't do it)
1. your painting is WET...I'm not going to say more about this.
2. your wall mounted work has a sawtooth hanger...boo. (see image below)
3. you did not measure your D-rings to the same spot on either side of your work (i.e., left ring at 4" and right ring at 6") This make leveling difficult.
4. no labels, no name, no up arrow, no instructions...if you don't care...why should we?
5. You're late...sorry but it's a no go.
DEADLINE:noun
1.the time by which something must be finished or submitted; the latest time for finishing something: a five o'clock deadline.
2.a line or limit that must not be passed.
3.(formerly) a boundary around a military prison beyond which a prisoner could not venture without risk of being shot by the guards.
If you need help/advice...ask...please.
You can purchase aluminum cleats from the hardware store if you don't want to make one.

D-rings = good. measure to place them the same on both sides of your work.Don't forget the wire.
